The US is becoming an LNG exporter thanks to its fast shale gas development, while in terms of proven reserves, China's on-shore shale gas resources stand at 36 trillion cubic meters, of which 25.07 trillion cubic meters are recoverable reserves. On March 16, 2012, China issued a shale gas development plan for 2011-2015. Later in December 2012, China's Ministry of Land and Resources announced the results of the second official bidding of shale gas.
